Love Island stars won't be told about Boris Johnson resignation or Cabinet reshuffle

Love Island contestants will not be informed about Boris Johnson's resignation.

The popular ITV2 dating show is five weeks underway as fans are expecting a drama filled evening after the infamous Casa Amor recoupling begins. The Islanders were stressed out ahead of the recoupling as Laura Whitmore showed up for the ceremony where contestants will be forced to stick with their original partners or swap them for new ones.

However, things haven't been smooth sailing out with the Love Island villa over the last 24 hours as the government has descended into chaos. Boris Johnson has now resigned as Prime Minister, but will remain in the position until Autumn when a new leader is appointed, writes the Mirror.

Despite this breaking news story dominating the news cycle for the last 24 hours, the contestants in the Love Island villa will not be informed. It is protocol that the Love Island stars are not told any information from outside the villa - although there was one exception in its eight series history, when last year, the Islanders were allowed to watch the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England.

However, they do get a chance to find out a little bit of information as a former Islander has revealed. Adam Collard, who appeared in the show in 2018, said: "The only information you get is when there is a new bombshell or a new islander coming into the house and then you start quizzing them.

"We’re not supposed to ask, but when Sam Bird came into the house we pestered the life out of him and then he told us the England score for the first game [of the 2018 World Cup], and then the girls in Casa Amor told us the second score."

There will be drama ahead tonight as host Laura Whitmore heads into the villa for a dramatic recoupling. "As you all know, tonight there will be a recoupling. Boys - each of you have a big decision to make. So I’m gonna ask you one by one if you want to stick with your partner who has been away in Casa Amor for the past few days, or whether you want to recouple with one of these gorgeous girls standing in front of you," she tells them as they prepare to make a decision.

"Now remember, the girls in Casa Amor have also been given the choice of whether to stick with you or couple up with someone new. So boys, it’s time to make your decisions and let’s find out what the girls have decided to do."

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
