Love Island stars touch down in the UK as summer of love comes to an end

The Love Island finalists have touched down in the UK after spending the summer searching for love in Majorca.

Runners up Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague were the first couple to step off the plane at Stansted airport, smiling and holding hands. They were followed by third place pair Ovie Soko and India Reynolds.

Winner Greg O'Shea waved triumphantly for the cameras as he made his way off the plane with partner Amber Gill.

They were followed by a beaming Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins, who came fourth in Monday night's final.

During the flight, Greg shared a photo of Amber beaming as she sat in the plane's cockpit, captioning it: "Learner permit... no bother."

The eight reality contestants set off from Majorca earlier this morning, where they looked loved up as they posed for a series of photos.

The reality stars were greeted by crowds of fans carrying banners as they arrived at the Essex airport.

Amber and Greg topped the public vote during Monday's final, despite having only been "coupled up" for less than two weeks, beating longest-standing couple Tommy and Molly-Mae.

The closing episode of the dating show was watched by 3.63 million with a peak of 4.1 million, making it the most-watched final in the programme's history.

ITV confirmed earlier this month that Love Island is set to return early in 2020 for a winter series, which will be filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.

A second competition will then follow in the show's traditional summer slot.
