Love Island stars slam Anna's sister for calling Jordan 'Shrek' and mocking his teeth

Love Island's Jordan Hames has infuriated much of the public after ditching Anna Vakili – not least her sister Mandi.

Taking to social media after watching the 23-year-old crack on with India Reynolds and leave Anna in tears, Mandi fumed that Jordan had been "lying through the gaps in his teeth," and savagely branded him "Shrek".

While her brutal response soon went viral online, and was shared on meme pages across the country, some former Love Island stars were quick to call her out for bringing Jordan's appearance into the equation.

Taking to the comments on Instagram meme page @youngkingstv as they shared Mandi's rant, 2018 Love Island Jack Fowler was quick to highlight why her comments were so problematic.

"THISSS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT...," Jack wrote. "Don't rate that at all..."

"What's his appearance got to do with his actions? I've lightly roasted him tonight but haven't needed to start dig him out like that.

"You lot be all up in the Mental Health comments when people take their lives and that, but I promise you it starts with this kinds bulls**t stories? Smh".

It wasn't just Jack who felt strongly on the subject, as his comment quickly racked up over 10,000 'likes'.

His best Love Island pal Josh Denzel replied with a supportive emoji underneath, while Wes Nelson even shared the comment on his Instagram story and wrote: "Respect".

However, some thought that critics had blown things out of proportion, with 2017 islander Theo Campbell weighing in: "Nah this is funny that's her sister... anyone says any different is a wet tissue...about mental health I...lol soft".

Theo's comment faced a lot of backlash online, with Wes even sharing a screenshot on his Instagram story as he publicly called him out.

"Insensitive," he wrote. "Think of the effects down the line..."

It comes after the tragic death of two Love Island stars from suicide in recent years.

Series two star Sophie Gradon passed away in 2018 while series three islander Mike Thalassitis was found dead earlier this year.

Taking to social media after Wes, Jack and Josh's very public criticisms, Mandi apologised for making it so personal.

"Sorry to everyone who I may have offended with my insults towards Jordan but you only have to imagine how hard it is watching your sister be humiliated and insulted through actions in the way she was," she wrote.

Mandi later apologised for the comments (Instagram)

"Your initial reaction is to humiliate and insult back. Probably not the right way to handle things but in the heat of the moment I'm not exactly a turn the other cheek type of person.

"I automatically wanted to embarrass the boy who had broke my sister heart like that.

"I love her more than anything in this world. I'm quite thick skinned when people insult me and Annas appearance which happens constantly, but I failed to realise not everyone might be able to take insults as lightly as I do and no one is perfect we all have flaws. and two wrongs don't make a right so I handled it with a short temper which was wrong...

"So spreading some love today".

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2
