Love Island stars 'sidelined' at NTAs as they're seated at the back

The stars of Love Island appeared to get sidelined at the National Television Awards last night.

There were plenty of former Islanders in attendance at the event, held at London's O2 Arena, but their presence was barely felt.

Three of the 2019 cast were given plum floor seats at the venue with winner Amber Gill sitting with runner-ups Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury.

However, other stars of the show were up in the rafters of the arena in a box.

Previous winner Jack Fincham was at the back, along with stars including Laura Anderson , Wes Nelson , Montana Brown and Georgia Steel .

There was a Love Island presence on the red carpet as Curtis Prichard and Maura Higgins hosted coverage from outdoors.

The saucy series was nominated for the best Challenge Show prize, but lost out to The Great British Bake Off.

In a further snub, host David Walliams made a scathing joke about former host Caroline Flack.

Joel Dommett presented an award alongside The Masked Singer's Hedgehog, and the comedian joked that it could be anyone in the costume.

He added that the real celebrity who is supposed to be inside the costume was probably at home "watching Love Island".

David then joked: "Thank you Joel - and so nice to see Caroline Flack back on TV as well."

Fans weren't happy with Walliams' jibe about Caroline, with even Piers Morgan sharing his outrage.

He tweeted: "Walliams' nasty little dig at Caroline Flack went down like a lead balloon.

"A bit like his entire hosting performance tonight. #NTAs."
