Love Island stars' secret meals from McDonald's and sandwiches to buffet banquets

Love Island contestants are seen snacking on all sorts of treats throughout their time in the Spanish sunshine but we never see them sat down for meals.

The cast are able to whip up their own breakfast but go off for lunch and dinner off camera.

The boys often make the girls an iced coffee in the morning or whip them up some scrambled eggs but the only other times they make a meal is when they have the date nights where the newcomer chooses who makes their three course meal.

Other than that the islanders might be seen enjoying an ice lolly or a toastie but nothing much more extravagant.

Fans have been wondering what they eat and where their food comes from.

Previous islanders have revealed that caterers bring in trays of food and snacks but they aren't able to make themselves a proper meal.

The contestants are able to request food to be delivered to the villa as well as having two sit down meals throughout the day.

During a Love Island show last week Millie Court opened up the fridge to show it fully stocked with a variety of food.

It has also been revealed that the girls and boys are separated at meal times to make sure they all the cast are eating the right amount of food to stay healthy whilst they are in the villa.

The reason that meal times are not shown on camera is because that is when the contestants get their microphones and battery packs changed so they can carry on with filming.

Speaking to Hello, series four islander Dani Dyer said: "There are no menus, it is catering, so obviously breakfast and stuff you cook yourself, so you have like eggs, bacon, toast and that kind of stuff. Then lunch and dinner are buffet."

She also said that "the fridge has always got meats and cheeses and that kind of stuff, and there is always snacks".

Dani also mentioned that the cast are always provided with more healthy options such as fish, salads and meat but chips were also an option.

The cast are also always able to keep in shape whilst they enjoy their time in the villa as there is an in-villa outdoor gym that scenes are often aired showing the cast working out.

Contestants are also limited to one or two drinks per night to make sure they don't get too tipsy whilst on TV.
