Love Island star Wes Nelson is happily single as he's 'wed to his music'

Former Love Island hunk Wes Nelson has stopped looking for romance to focus on his music career.

The 25-year-old reality star reveals he’s happy to stay single because he’s now married to his music.

Wes has enjoyed high-profile romances with Love Island babes Megan Barton-Hanson and Arabella Chi, who is now dating musician, Tom Zanetti.

But Wes, who has teamed up with Clean Bandit for new track Drive, says: “Music is my love now. I am married to music.

“All my energy and my focus is towards my career.”

Wes shot to fame back in 2018 and came fourth on the popular ITV2 dating show.

He went on to finish as runner-up on Dancing On Ice in 2019 and appeared on Celebrity X Factor in 2020 alongside fellow Love Island stars Samira Mighty, Zara McDermott and Eyal Booker.

Wes has since had two critically acclaimed hits, See Nobody and Nice To Meet Ya.

But he admits he has struggled to get rid of his reality TV tag.

“It’s annoying because everyone has done something else before becoming a successful artist,” Wes says.

“Some have stacked shelves or sold cars. The difference is that they don’t get judged on that like you do when you’ve come from a reality show.”

Clean Bandit have previously worked with a number of huge artists including Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie, Demi Lovato and Sean Paul.

But the band’s Grace Chatto believes Wes is right up there for talent.

Grace says: “Our sound engineer actually said Wes had the best recording voice she has ever heard.”

That has only made Wes even more determined to become a huge international star.

He has already recorded more than 100 songs and plans to release an EP later this year before dropping an album in 2022.

He says: “I knew I wouldn’t get respect as an artist overnight and I knew I would have to work hard to change people’s perception of me.

“There is pressure because of the stigma, but you have to believe in yourself no matter what people say, and that’s what I’ve done.”

Talking about this year’s Love Island, he adds: “I haven’t watched it this year as I’ve been too busy.

“It’s the first year I’ve not watched it and I feel like it’s too late to jump in now.”
