Love Island star Tommy Fury opens up on his future in boxing

Tommy Fury has vowed to return to the boxing ring following his stint on Love Island.

Fury, with girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, finished second on the hit ITV reality show this summer.

The light-heavyweight has two professional fights to his name and plans to take a 12-month break from the sport.

But he confirmed he has no plans to retire - and expects to sell out an arena when he returns.

"The opportunities after leaving the villa are life changing and I can't turn those opportunities down, I'd be a fool to," he told the Pound for Pound podcast .

"If I take 12 months out of the ring I'll be 21 so I'm still a baby in the sport, but there's no doubt some time next year I'll be back in the ring doing what I love.

"It's an amazing feeling, from a child I've always been into my boxing and my dream was to fight at the Manchester Arena and I did that in my first fight - now I'll be able to sell that out on my own.

"It's crazy, all my dreams are coming true, everything I worked hard for in my boxing. Everything happens for a reason and everything is happening around me."

Fury is following in the footsteps of his brother Tyson and cousin Hughie in becoming a professional boxer.

And he added: "I've been doing boxing all my life, for as long as I can remember.

"My dad did it, all my brothers and cousins are doing it, but make no mistake, everyone thinks I've had everything gift-wrapped but it's not been that way at all.

"Everything I've had to do in boxing I've done myself. I've always grafted because i don't believe in taking anything from anyone.

"It was hard to get fights, I was pretty muscley and the last name was behind me, but when i got the first one out the way i knew even more that i wanted to do it."
