Love Island star Teddy's cousin says Faye should be kicked off show amid backlash

Furious Love Island fans launched a fresh wave of complaints to Ofcom after watching Faye Winter give Teddy Soares a mouthful of abuse on Friday.

Teddy’s cousin also joined in the chorus of protests as the series caused outrage for a second time.

It came after the July 28 episode sparked around 5,000 complaints for its “cruel” treatment of the couple.

The episode saw Faye being sent a misleading postcard suggesting Teddy had cheated on her.

After the couple’s latest showdown, viewer Kaylee Gibbs tweeted: “My first complaint to Ofcom. What I just watched was horrendous. Mental health needs to be taken seriously. That was from however many hours of Faye gaslighting Teddy!”

Another fan said: “Catching up on Love island and I’ve had to turn off because I can’t stand... the treatment Teddy is receiving from Faye.”

Teddy’s cousin Tania Monteiro was also sickened by Faye’s behaviour, which came after Islanders saw clips from the series.

Footage showed Teddy, 26, talking of his “sexual attraction” to former contestant Clarisse Juliette, leading to the row and Faye telling him they were “so done.” Speaking to the Sunday Mirror from her home near Lisbon, Portugal, Tania said: “I don’t have words for what she has done.

“It was hard to see. I was really upset because I saw in his [Teddy’s] face he was down and I just want to give him a big hug.

“If I had seen her yesterday, I think I would say bad things to her. We are here for Ted. We are protecting him.”

Tania joined viewers’ calls for bosses to kick Faye, 26, off the show – but said she doubts they will because she is good for ratings.

She said: “For me, she needs to go but for Love Island, she is the person who has an audience so I don’t think they will remove her... for them it is money.”

Tania added: “What people see is what Ted is in reality. Faye showed her worst side, her true colours. She needs support… medical help.”

An ITV spokesman said Islanders’ welfare “is always our primary concern”.

He added: “We have psychological support on hand at all times who regularly speak to the Islanders in private, especially if someone appears upset.

“Islanders are fully supported by professionals on site and friends in the villa.”

Other fans have been left upset by "disgusting comments" left on Faye's social media accounts which included death threats.

One said: "100% get the Faye rage BUT death threats and the comments on her instagram are f***ing disgusting.

"Multiple accounts with no profile pic and following two people saying ‘die, you should die’ ??? It’s bewildering that people STILL do this even after all the deaths."

"People need to remember Faye's family have her social media and are seeing all the horrific things you are saying about her," posted another, adding: "Her family doesn't need to be seeing death threats and disgusting comments, I hope they are all ok after tonight."

Love Island warned fans to "think before you post" before the controversial episode was aired.

The estate agent went on an expletive laden rampage firing off at nearly every male in the villa, as she argued with Teddy.

But Faye does have some admirers with one saying: "I LIVE FOR FAYE. Sick of all the boring quiet girls! Give me a whole house of FAYES," adding the hashtag fayewinner."
