Love Island star posts video riding horses in the sea with a stunning Welsh backdrop

A horse-loving Love Island star had what seems to have been an experience of a lifetime galloping on a racehorse as he enjoyed a gorgeous stretch of the Welsh coastline. The star who featured on the ITV hit show on Season 3 was blown away by the setting as they took rode around the dunes, on the sand and even into the sea.

Chris Hughes visited Ogmore-By-Sea with famous horse trainer Christian Williams who showed him the benefits of training horses in the area and helping them recover at Ogmore Farm. He said in a video filmed by Great British Racing: "Well they're revved up. They must absolutely love it down here. What a part of the world."

He added: "Just coming down here today, I think we're blessed with the sunshine - just amazing facilities. Just so picturesque. Splashing around, they absolutely love it. Kitty's flying, he just wants to get off."

Galloping into the water, the celebrity was clearly loving life as he said on his Instagram afterwards: "Love my horses, but something hits different when you're on the beach and in the sea. The best animals!"

The celebrity got to hear all about how Williams works in the area, and he was keen to hear more about whether a bit of 'vitamin sea' can make all the difference to the horses as well. Chris said: "Just having the sea to come into, is that a massive thing for recovery with these animals?"

The top trainer explained more about how he trains the animals, and added: "It's no coincidence that the reason they recover and seem to stay sound throughout their career, and our horses seem to get better and better with age so I'd like to think it's something to do with the cold water therapy."

Chris and Richard enjoyed some glorious winter sun while giving some of the races some exercise. At the end of the ride, Chris was singing the praises of Ogmore beach.

He said: "It's just completely different. Yeah, for me obviously Jonjo O'Neill, John Tizzard all those places- amazing facilities but you're not training on anything where you get the seaside and sand dunes. I've never ridden out on sand dunes like it.

"And the beauty of that obviously is the horses are so adapted to it they just take you on a merry way. It's almost like being a cowboy really.

"They take you where they want to go and there's no point trying to steer them. You just let them do their own thing. And that was, yeah- phenomenal. Just all the land it is just amazing. Having a splash in the sea as well in the sea- that's a first. And hopefully not the last... amazing experience, just loved it."

Ogmore Farm is based on the outskirts of Ogmore-By-Sea in the Vale of Glamorgan, just 5 miles from Junction 35 of the M4.
