Love Island star pays heartbreaking tribute to Sophie Gradon two years after her death

Love Island star Malin Andersson has led the show's tributes to Sophie Gradon, two years after her death sparked widespread grief throughout Newcastle and the TV industry.

Former Miss Newcastle Sophie was found dead at her parents home in Ponteland in June 2018, with a coroner last year ruling that the 32-year-old took her own life.

Sophie's death rocked Newcastle, with many tributes pouring in from friends in the area as well as those who knew her from being on Love Island in 2016.

Tributes flood in after the tragic death of Sophie Gradon

And former co-star Malin has now remembered Sophie with a heartbreaking post on the second anniversary of her death. Taking to Instagram, Malin shared a picture of herself, Sophie and other former contestants like Zara Holland and Olivia Buckland and wrote: "Always right beside me. Then, now. Forever. I know you’re dancing with my girls. Love you Soph."

The remark about her "girls" is a tragic reference to Malin's late mum, who died in 2017 after a battle with cancer, and her baby daughter Consy, who passed away last year after being born seven weeks premature.

Two of Sophie's other Love Island co-stars, Scott Thomas and Kady McDermott, were quick to react, each posting heart emojis.

Love Island fans also remembered Sophie in the comments thread. One wrote: "I hope she is having fun up there too! I never knew her yet her passing still really affects me!" and another posted: "She was the best such a beautiful soul gone too soon."
