Love Island star Olivia Atwood explains what parents can't say to islanders

Love Island star Olivia Atwood has revealed that the contestant's families are forbidden from discussing certain topics when they visit the islanders.

Sunday's episode of Love Island saw the contestants reunite with their families and find out what they really thought about their time in the villa.

While parents and siblings are allowed to speak about their opinion of the islander's partner, they can't talk about one certain topic.

Writing in OK! Magazine Olivia said that islanders don't know their parents are coming until they arrive in the villa.

And that when they get there their chats are only allowed to be about what happens in the villa.

Olivia said: "I can't remember whose parents were first on my season, but it's a long day. One set of parents from one couple will come in. Then it's quite a long chat and then there's a long break between each set of parents. You only get between half an hour and 45 minutes with them maximum.

"I think me and Chris Hughes were very late, I think we were like the last parents to come in.

"Obviously it's super emotional and you're really happy to see them. But it's a bit of a weird one because your parents aren't allowed to talk to you about any outside life stuff, really.

"They can tell you about a few things from home, maybe tell you how the dog is, but the kind of questions you want to ask, you can't. So it feels quite restricted. It's a bit of a strange feeling actually.

"You want know what the public think, you want to know what they think of your couple, but obviously they're not going to tell you.

"They're going to choose carefully what they say because obviously you're on TV, they want to be mindful of that. It's not like the most open chat you have. It's still nice to see them."

*The Love Island final airs at 9pm on ITV2 tonight
