Love Island star Molly-Mae complains about the 'shocking' food in Italy on idyllic trip to Venice

Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has taken a swipe at the food in Italy during an idyllic trip to Venice.

The reality star said the food in Italy is 'actually shocking' and slammed the 'disappointing' restaurants.

The social media influencer said even her ice cream was 'grim' in a post shared on her Instagram Stories.

Admitting her words were 'controversial' Molly-Mae, 21, posted a snap of her gelato as she let rip.

"I absolutely loved Venice but one thing I will say about Italy in general ... the food is actually shocking?

"So controversial I know but I've been a lot of times now to different parts and I've tried a lot of different restaurants and I'm always so disappointed.

"It's meant to be the home of pizza and pasta and I really can't see how. Strange.

"Even this ice cream was grim."

However Molly-Mae, from Manchester, did say the stunning scenery made up for her dislike of the food.

"The views made up for it though," she wrote.

Last summer's Love Island finalist described Venice as the 'most beautiful place I've ever seen.'

And she told her followers: "I never expected to love Venice the way I do."

As she prepared to fly home she posted a photo of the city with the words 'until next time' next to a heart emoji.

Back home Molly-Mae was reunited with her boxer boyfriend Tommy Fury, who she met on the ITV2 dating show, and he showered her with sweets, chocolates and flowers.

And she made up for her disappointment over the food in Italy with a meal in Ancoats at the Counter House and a Tango Ice Blast at the cinema.

"Wow," she wrote, sharing a photo of her roast dinner on Instagram.
