Michael Griffiths has been full of warm words about his Love Island ex Amber Gill after she and Greg O’Shea were crowned the winners for 2019 last night.
Speaking to Capital’s Aimee Vivian at Love Island: The Experience, Michael described his elation at watching the girl he brutally dumped walk away with the top prize.
He said: “I’m so gassed for her, like, she’s been through a mad journey and she needs that”, adding that he felt “she needed that”.
Michael took to his Instagram stories last night to share his thoughts after his ex was crowned Queen of the Villa.
While he immediately expressed his shock, saying: “Oh s***, oh s***, I did not expect that…Wow”, he later gathered his thoughts and posted a message of congratulations to the happy couple.
In a mini-recap, Michael and Amber coupled up really early on during their time at the villa but things went south soon after Amber went off to Casa Amour.
While she returned single, Michael had recouple with Joanna, leading to the most awkward of love triangles.
Despite Michael repeatedly and cruelly telling a heartbroken Amber that he didn’t like her, it was only after Joanna’s dumping from the villa that he admitted still having feelings for the bombshell 21-year-old.
However, by this point, Amber had been swept off her feet by newcomer Greg O’Shea and the rest is Love Island history.
News of Amber and Greg winning Love Island and the massive £50,000 prize came just days after Michael was spotted getting cosy with Joanna at a music festival.
The couple were caught on camera kissing passionately on the dance floor at Kisstory on the Common festival over the weekend.
Despite claiming innocence on their Instagram pages, they were caught on camera later the same night kissing at the Drama nightclub in London’s Park Lane.
Ex-Love Islander Joanna hit back at speculation that she and Michael were sharing a romantic embrace, saying: “I just want to make a point, we weren't kissing.
"He was saying something in my ear and I found it funny. I can't remember what it was.”
However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to ask her if her ears were located in her mouth.
Joanna had previously vowed things were over between her and firefighter Michael for good after he conducted a huge U-turn when she was booted out of the villa and admitted to fancying his ex Amber Gill.
Michael, 28, was also branded a 'snake' by 22-year-old Joanna after he decided to stay in the villa instead of walking out with her.
