Love Island star Maura Higgins says she filmed 15 hour days for new RTE show and prefers to 'stay humble' about big purchases

Love Island star Maura Higgins admits that she prefers to “stay humble” as she didn’t have money for expensive purchases when growing up.

Fresh off the set from filming her new make-up show with RTE, Maura took to her Instagram stories to answer her followers' burning questions about her show, and her skin problems.

Apologising for not being active on social media, she said that has been extremely busy recording her new show: “I was filming Glow Up in Ireland, and I’ve been away for over a month.

“When I came back, I needed a well deserved break because I mean 15 hour days killed me off.”

Telling her followers more about the Irish version of Glow Up, Maura had nothing but praise for the contestants: “I don’t think I could pick one favourite thing.

“I mean, the contestants were incredible, I feel like going on the journey with them, helping them when they were at their low points.

“Everything about the show was incredible.”

She added: “You know what, I was learning off them because they were so so talented.”

Maura admitted to her followers that she struggled with her skin when she was filming 15 hours a day for the show.

Sharing a picture of her blemishes, she said: “Basically, my skin has always been very very good, I’m very very lucky and I really do know that.

“When I was filming for Glow Up my skin broke out so much.”

When asked a question about her earrings, she admitted that she doesn’t like to share what she buys on social media.

She said: “This is actually one thing I really hate sharing is jewellery or stuff that I buy because I know growing up I didn’t have the money to buy stuff like that and I hate showing it on social media.

“I know a lot of the questions that are coming in right now are like ‘show us all your deliveries,’ and it’s just something I really don’t like doing. I’d rather just stay humble.

“It’s not me. If I want to buy something for myself, it’s for myself, and it’s not to splash out on social media. I just don’t really like that.”
