Love Island star quits fame and returns to her day job after her stint in the villa

It's been just weeks since the Love Island final, but contestant Georgia Townend has already given up a pursuit of fame and fortune to return to her day job.

The 28-year-old entered the famous villa earlier this summer after setting her sights firmly on Hugo Hammond, but she was booted from the show after just 24 hours when her love interest Hugo decided to couple up with Chloe Burrows instead.

Although she was catapulted into the limelight while trying her hand at finding love on the hit ITV2 dating show, Georgia has now decided that she prefers a much quieter life.

The blonde beauty has returned to her old role as a marketing executive just a few short weeks after her brief stint on Love Island.

Georgia took to social media to let her thousands of new Instagram followers know that she had made the decision to return to her old workplace.

The bubbly TV personality joked that she was worried her former colleagues wouldn’t allow her back in the office as she quipped: “Will my pass let me in? Or have I been sacked?

"Yaaay, it's let me in. Made it to work, but can I make it through the day, that's the real question."

After Georgia was dumped from the island, she insisted that she was glad she went on the show – because she entered it for all the right reasons.

The marketing executive said that she was on the hunt for love, and not fame.

Speaking on Instagram, Georgia admitted: "I entered the villa with honest intentions, I was hopeful that despite being an unorthodox method, there could be a real prospect of meeting someone.

“Unfortunately, things don’t always pan out the way you’d hoped, but if you learn a lesson it’s always worth the tuition fee,” she added.

Georgia went on to admit that she knew she wasn’t a ‘typical islander’ before entering the show.

Nevertheless, the kind-hearted romantic wanted to make a point that you don’t have to look a certain way in order to find love.

"I knew before even applying I was an aberration compared to the atypical islander,” she explained.

“I’m s***e at make up, I can’t flirt to save my life, and apparently I have dreadful fashion sense.

"But despite these obvious shortcomings, I wanted to represent normal girls who struggle to date, aren’t interested in the social equity and had a genuine desire to find someone.

"I value my integrity above all else, and didn’t want to invest my time where it was unrequited or have to sabotage couples to save my own skin. Whilst that meant I was probably a s**t islander it means I walked away with my dignity and respect in tact.”

Georgia was a huge hit with viewers who celebrated her ‘breath of fresh air’ nature and natural beauty.
