Love Island star Curtis has reportedly gained so much weight while in the villa that ITV bosses have been forced to buy him a new wardrobe.
The ballroom dancer is said to have requested new clothes because he can’t fit into anything he wore during the first few weeks of the show.
The 23-year-old took in a suitcase of his own clothes when he entered the villa but has received more clothes from the show’s sponsors.
Speaking to the Daily Star, a source said: “He had to ask for some new ones because he is struggling to fit into them now."
Curtis is said to have gone up at least two sizes in the last eight weeks, with claims the weight gain is down to an abundance of tasty treats and his lack of exercise.
The insider added: “Curtis normally burns off a lot of calories because he's a professional dancer, but obviously in the villa he's not been training."
Curtis’ weight gain has not gone unnoticed by viewers, with one tweeting: “Most of the islanders have put on weight since they’ve gone into the villa. It was noticeable in Michael and Curtis, even Amber looks fuller but it looks good on her."
Another wrote: “Curtis actually gained weight in the Villa."
While a third commented: “I think I like the fact Curtis has put on weight whilst in #LoveIsland…”, labelling it as “realistic”.
A Love Island spokesperson told Mirror Online: “It is incredibly irresponsible that any Islander would body shamed in this way and we would always discourage anyone from making appearance based comments that could be hurtful to the islanders and their families.”
A show insider added "It is astonishing that there have been calls for body diversity yet an islander who has allegedly put on weight is now being trolled because of it."
The Love Island 2019 Final will be aired live tomorrow from 9pm on ITV2.
It will also be screened for free at 21 Showcase Cinemas and Cinemas de Lux across the country.
