Love Island star Chris Taylor slammed over 'offensive' Native American tattoo

New Love Island star Chris Taylor has been slammed over his "offensive" tattoo, with some even accusing it of being "racist".

Business Development Manager Chris, 28, entered the villa earlier this week alongside Francesca Allen.

However it has been his tattoos, rather than his love life, which has sparked outrage from viewers.

A woman wearing a Native American headdress is inked on his chest next to his owl.

He also has a Latin phrase penned beneath his hip, which reads: "I came, I saw, I conquered."

However fans were not impressed and took to Twitter to slam the tat, with one tweeting: "Hmm is this the most racist tattoo I've ever seen on Chris Taylor? #LoveIsland."

Meanwhile a spokesperson for the Native American Rights Fund have similarly branded the inkings "inappropriate and offensive".

The told Heart.co.uk : "These images show a lack of understanding about the history of Native people, and that we are still alive today – we are not mascots, we are people.

"The use of these images was often rooted in an extensive history of abuse, discrimination, and conquest. The growing body of research around the use of these images shows that they have a harmful impact on our youth, and the youth of non-native people as well.”

They added that the images "affirm negative stereotypes" and "directly harm the mental health of Native American youth.

Love Island bosses declined to comment to Mirror Online.
