Love Island spin-off in the works allowing reality stars 'second chance at love'

A brand new Love Island spin-off is in the works to allow international contestants a second chance at love.

The hit dating show has become a reality TV staple across the UK after premiering in 2015, and that success has lead to Australian and US versions of the show. US streaming service Peacock has teased the new spin-off, Love Island Games, which promises to round up the best international contestants all competing for the champion title.

The series, which is set to air later this year, will bring together past Islanders from the US, UK, and Australian shows, allowing the stars a second shot at love.

In this new format, romance will meet reality as Islanders are faced with both team and couples challenges, all while navigating dating, eliminations, re-coupling, and dramatic new arrivals. While not much is known yet about this spin-off series, UK fans don't have long to wait for the next instalment of Love Island.

The ITV series reportedly kicks off Monday, June 5. An insider told The Sun: "Love Island will start on June 5, just as people are getting ready to enjoy their summers.

"ITV have already lined up the islanders who will be heading to the show’s villa in Majorca. The cast will fly out late next month ready for the show to begin in just eight weeks.

"It is hugely exciting and those working on the show cannot wait to get started."

The source added: “This series will be eight weeks long, meaning the couple who win the show will be in the villa for two months. Maya is chomping at the bit to get to work on this series too. Having her on board has given Love Island a real boost and it’s expected that ratings will soar.”

A second source added: “The dates have not been officially confirmed.”
