Love Island sneak peek as the first couplings of the series get underway

The first couplings of the new series of Love Island get underway in a sneak peek from the show.

Shared by ITV first look images show the class of 2021 lined up around the pool as it's decided who they're going to be coupling-up with.

Host Laura Whitmore is at the helm as she steps into the famous TV villa in a white and blue floral patterned off-the-shoulder dress.

Love Island returns to ITV2 tomorrow night for its seventh series as a brand new host of singletons seek to find their perfect match.

Islanders will do their best to flirt, date, couple up and try and avoid being ‘dumped’ from the Mallorcan villa.

There will be more texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges for the lovestruck Islanders, all narrated by the voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic Love Island was last on our screens for its first winter series in January 2020 and there was no summer series last year.

The winter edition in South Africa was won by Paige Turley and Finley Tapp who moved in together in Manchester.

Love Island 2019 saw Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea crowned the winners.

It was a surprising end to the series after boxer Tommy Fury and social media influencer Molly-Mae Hague, both from Manchester, had been bookies' favourites to win.

Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham triumphed in 2018, Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies the previous year, and Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey in 2016.

The first Love Island winners were Max Morley and Jess Hayes and they split just six weeks after the series ended.

The first series of 2015 was on for over a month from June to July 2015.

While these days the dating show is such a hit with viewers it runs for eight weeks over the summer.

As the new pairs attempt to win the hearts of each other one couple will triumph and be crowned Love Island winners 2021.

Laura said: "I am so excited to be back hosting. It’s been a year where I think we all need a bit more love and fun in our lives and I think everyone is ready for Love Island to be back – myself included.

"I’m really excited about seeing the villa. I’ve never seen the villa in Mallorca so I’ll probably be there a little bit fangirling at the villa. It’s almost like a person to me.

"So I need to remember that I’m there doing a job, not just a fangirl."

She added: “I’ve never worked a summer Love Island, so I’d normally be watching it on the telly. I really missed watching it.

"I couldn’t watch the news anymore. I needed something that was a bit more fun – I think everyone’s the same."

Also returning to ITV2 will be Love Island: Aftersun, with Laura hosting live from London, catching up with Islanders as they leave the villa, getting the inside scoop from family, friends and celebrity fans and sharing unseen footage.

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 28th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub.

Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
