Love Island sees Michael and Francesca leave the villa

Michael Griffiths and Francesca Allen are the latest couple to leave the Love Island villa.

The islanders had to choose one couple to save on Sunday night's show after a public vote meant that Michael and Francesca found themselves in the bottom three alongside Chris and Harley and Anna and Jordan.

All of the couples decided to save Anna and Jordan apart from Ovie and India who chose to save Chris and Harley.

Michael and Francesca received no votes which meant they were dumped from the island.

Francesca admitted on Friday's episode of the show that she "had no choice" but to pick Michael in the recoupling after Amber Gill chose Irish rugby player Greg O'Shea.

Michael was an original islander having entered the villa on day one and coupling up with Yewande Biala before striking up a romance with Amber.

But after the arrival of Casa Amor, the 27-year-old firefighter shocked viewers by coupling up with Joanna instead of Amber.

After Joanna was dumped from the island in a dramatic exit, Micheal admitted that he still had feelings for Amber in a shock U-turn.

"I wouldn’t change anything with Amber and Joanna. I wanted to couple up with Joanna as the interest was there," Michael said.

"I’m going to try and talk to Joanna but I know that she’ll have seen what’s gone on and I hope she understands I needed to make it up to Amber.

"There was always going to be a natural draw between me and Amber because of how friendly we were.

"I did think about Joanna every day that she wasn’t there. She was always on my mind and I will try to speak to her," he added.

Francesca Allen entered the villa in week five. The 23-year-old decided to couple up with ballroom dancer Curtis.

The romance between the pair didn't last long as Curtis decided to crack on with Maura instead.

Francesca has admitted that she's not surprised to be leaving (ITV)

Since her exit from the show, Francesca has admitted that she wasn't surprised to be leaving.

"I learnt so much about myself in there and it was a massive life lesson for me.

"I made great memories and great friends in a short amount of time. It was a very positive experience.

"I didn’t find love and that’s the purpose of the show. I’m glad I went as Michael was ready to go and it gives everyone else an opportunity to grow as a couple so I’m not disappointed."

You can catch Micheal and Francesca on Love Island: Aftersun tonight at 10pm on ITV2
