Love Island Scot Laura Anderson sobs over losing jobs and followers after controversial Dubai trip

Love Island's Laura Anderson has revealed that travelling to Dubai during the coronavirus pandemic had a huge impact on her as she lost thousands of followers and also jobs.

The 31-year-old, originally from Stirling, said she was trolled online as she documented her luxurious trip to Dubai on Instagram back in January.

And her followers were so furious by her decision to travel that the Scot was forced to turn off the comments on her social media posts.

Laura hopped on a plane to Dubai when the UK still had a travel bridge in place.

And when the strict travel ban emerged, Laura insisted that she was back home before the UK government implemented the new rules.

Although she technically abided by the guidelines, the influencer came under fire and received abuse and criticism, and in turn, she has lost a huge number of followers.

Lifting the lid on the lasting effects of the scandal, Laura sobbed as she told The Sun that she struggled to cope with the intense trolling.

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with,” she confessed.

“It was so hard to stick up for myself. I understand the whole pandemic, I am not a silly little girl. It is really hard and it still going on now. It was a really hard decision to go over. I’ve lost followers, I’ve lost jobs.”

The star, who shot to fame on the 2018 series of Love Island, said the trolling was so bad that she started to pursue other career opportunities.

She explained: “It has made my reconsider my future in this industry."

Other celebrities including Jane Park, Chloe Ferry, Abbey Clancy, and Peter Crouch, and Molly-Mae Hague, and Tommy Fury also faced harsh backlash after travelling to Dubai in recent months.
