Love Island: Samira Mighty has quit the ITV2 show

Samira Mighty has left Love Island

The 22-year-old had previously spoken about being heartbroken after former partner Frankie Foster was kicked off the show earlier this week.

On tonight’s episode (12 July), the former West End performer first hints at the situation when speaking to Dani Dyer, saying: “We’ve been here from the start and I finally got what I wanted and now I feel like I’m back at square one but worst. It’s unfinished business.”

After sleeping on the decision, Samira then tells fellow contestants Dani, Ellie and Megan that she has decided to leave the Spanish villa for good.

“So my lovely beautiful girls, you guys know that I’ve had a really tough couple of days here recently and I’ve been umming and ahhing about leaving,” Samira says.

“I’ve not had any connection in here with anyone and I had a little taste of that with Frankie and it’s gone abruptly and I think I’d always be thinking ‘What if.’

“I woke up this morning and I thought, it’s my time to go… I have to do this for me, I’ve never felt so strong.”

Samira continued by calling the decision “so, so hard” and “devastating” but the “right thing to do”.

“Just follow my heart because I’ve never done that before I’ve always taken the back seat and now I need to go for it head on and leave and just go for Frankie,” she said. ”I’ve got to go with my gut feeling. And I’m not saying I’m in love with Frankie or we’re going to get married tomorrow but I don’t want to waste any time, I just want to see him and I know this is the right thing to do.

The others were reportedly upset by the decision but supported their friend, Megan saying: ”You seem happier already having made your mind up. You seem like the old Samira back again.”

Samira has been part of the fourth series since day one, initially coupling with Doctor Alex before moving onto Sam and then Frankie. Revealing the news of her departure to the other housemates, she once again cites needing to get “closure on the Frankie situation” but adds: “I’m really happy that I’m doing this and I feel really strong. I love all of you so much. You are all so amazing.”

Meanwhile, Ofcom has received over 600 complaints about Love Island‘s treatment of Laura. The series continues on ITV2 at 10pm.
