Love Island's Zara McDermott admits she did show for fame and money - not romance

Zara McDermott has admitted the real reason she went on Love Island - to find fame and fortune.

In a brutally honest confession, the former Islander told her boyfriend, Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson, that she wasn't actually bothered about finding romance on the ITV2 dating show.

"I was there for a PLT deal," she told him, referring to fashion label PrettyLittleThing, who have signed big money contracts with former Islander Molly-Mae Hague and a string of big stars.

Zara's confession came as Sam slammed Lucinda for not leaving the villa alongside Brad when they were forced to decide between them which one would stay and which one would go.

Sam questioned Lucinda's intentions for being on the show, saying: "She doesn't give a s**t," before suggesting she was looking for a clothing line collaboration, with Zara telling him it's what she really wanted from the show too.

Zara was on the show in 2018, when she became embroiled in a love triangle with Adam Collard and Rosie Williams.

She continued dating Adam on the outside world after they left the villa together before splitting acrimoniously.

She met and fell for Sam later that year.

And while everyone heading into the show insists they're looking to find lasting love, it's no secret that many of them have made a fortune after leaving the villa by landing lucrative deals with clothing brands and other companies.

As Sam and Zara continued to discuss the events of the show, he asked her why she thought Faye was so upset that Lucinda didn't choose to leave with Brad.
