Love Island's Yewande blasts racism claims and says she was just unlucky

Love Island's Yewande Biala has blasted claims the show was marred by racism and insisted she was just unlucky not to find a partner.

The show had previously come under fire from viewers over the first coupling - when contestants of colour were ditched in favour of white stars.

The row was reignited last night when the Irish scientist, 23, got dumped by Danny Williams in favour of blonde model Arabella.

However, Yewande has insisted she wasn't aware of any racial bias during her stint in the show

She said: "I don't think there's a race issue at all.

"It's unfortunate that he [Danny] broke my heart. It never crossed my mind that there was a race issue on the show."

During the chat, she went on to defend Amy Hart, who has been branded a snake over her treatment of on\off friend Lucie Donlan.

Yewande insisted that the air stewardess has been totally "misunderstood" by viewers.

She explained: "Amy is one of my good friends. It was strange that people think that [she's a snake].

"She's probably one of the most genuine people in there. I feel like she's so misunderstood, she's genuine, she has so much love to give.

"It's sad that people think that."

Yewande made a seriously sassy comment to Danny as she left (ITV)

Danny and Yewande had been coupled up before new girl Arabella, 28, caught his eye, and last night he chose to recouple with her - leaving Yewande single and sending her home.

Danny, 21, attempted to apologise for his decision but Yewande was having none of it.

As she was packing up her things, Danny said: "I just wanna say I'm sorry for how this turned out and if it could have been another way, I would.

"You know it's just... this isn't easy and again I'm sorry."

A stony-faced Yewande brushed him off before leaving the villa with an incredibly sassy put-down, telling Danny: "I hope you enjoy your time in the villa.

"What goes around comes around and have a nice life."
