Love Island's Wes Nelson is collaborating with Brit winner Dave the rapper

Wes Nelson claims he has collaborating with Dave as he attempts to launch his music career.

The former Love Island star says the rapper, who picked up the Album Of The Year gong at the Brit awards last week for Psychodrama, has been acting as his mentor in the studio and has been helping out on his "chilled R&B and pop”.

Wes, who has built a recording studio in his house, told The Sun: “I’ve been in the studio with Dave, he’s been great.

“A lot of the people I’ve been working with are really important. I’m in talks with big producers and labels.”

Wes also said he has teamed-up with Brummie hip-hop duo Loot Boyz to make music.

The former engineer has set his hopes of making it as musician - after having a taste of pop stardom when appearing on Celebrity X Factor last year.

He said: “There is some very exciting stuff coming up for me but music is the main focus."

Wes boasted that everyone at the studio 'loves' the songs he has made so far and that he will soon be releasing the music.

Earlier this month, Wes revealed he is focusing on his music career after starring on Celebrity X Factor late last year alongside fellow islanders Eyal Booker, Samira Mighty , and Zara McDermott .

"Music is what I love most now," Wes said.

"Especially after doing X Factor and seeing what goes on behind the scenes."

Wes also revealed he is in no rush to get down on one knee as they are determined to take things slow.

He said: "It's going so, so well. We've taken it easy and been low key with our relationship, especially to begin with."

"It's been good keeping everything out of the public eye. It's just been like a normal relationship."
