Love Island's Tyler says Islanders are banned from using accents or saying certain words

Love Island 2021 star Tyler Cruickshank has been sharing some timely behind-the-scenes secrets about the ITV2 show.

The reality TV star - who coupled with Kaz Kamwi during his time the Villa - has claimed contestants are 'banned' from using certain words in the Villa and 'told off' for using accents.

Tyler's comments come as Love Island viewers questioned why current Islander Summer Bowte slipped into an American accent during her date with Adam Collard on Wednesday night's show.

Speaking to the Daily Star, former contestant Tyler revealed that certain topics of conversation were off-limits and any transgressions from the rules would result in contestants getting "told off" by producers.

"When we were saying things in there we would get told off quite a lot because they weren't politically correct," the one-time Love Island finalist explained to the publication.

"Like you can't say 'Chinese whispers' like, I get it but it's something that would slip out of your mouth. You then get called to the beach hut and get told off.

"You can't say the C-word either."

The former estate agent went on to add: "That was about it but you had to be careful in there. You can't do accents either. I was trying to use the French accent and I wasn't very good which is probably why they told me off."

Tyler's interview occurred prior the latest episode of Love Island airing, which saw some of the Villa's ladies slip into American accents at several points throughout the show.

Summer - who hails from Hertfordshire - is currently technically coupled up with Dami Hope but was one of the three lucky ladies to enjoy a date with new arrival Adam Collard.

Alongside newly-single Paige Thorne and Danica Taylor, the events decor business owner got to know the hunky Geordie over a slap up meal in the Villa - something which clearly prompted her to change her accent.

"The absolute shock of Adam picking summer for a date has gave her an American accent #LoveIsland," one viewer joked on Twitter as the show aired.

Another observed: "She walked into the hideaway with Adam with an American accent, sat through the date with her regular voice then went back to the American accent for the exit. Never seen anything weirder. #LoveIsland."

"Is summer american or is she just putting on a[n] american accent in front of adam," a third asked, with another adding: "#LoveIsland Adam is so powerful that he made Summer American. what is even that accent."

Viewers also accused Welsh paramedic Paige and Danica of adopting an American twang at one point during their date with Adam.
