Love Island’s Teddy weeps over dad's death minutes before Real Full Monty performance

Love Island's Teddy Soares has opened up about his dad dying when he was just 13 years old.

Teddy spoke about the event when he was just moments from going on stage to perform on Strictly: The Real Full Monty.

The 26 year old did the show to honour his late dad who he lost to cancer as he helped to raise awareness.

He was honest about crying just minutes before performing as he spoke to The Sun about how the programme went and what it meant to him.

He said that on the day of the performance he cried just seconds before going on to do the routine.

He added: "They played a snippet to the audience there about the journey we have been through and I could hear it before we performed.

"When I heard my voice and the cast's experience, it was surreal - having not spoken about it ever before, and then suddenly talking to people I have idolised."

When mentioning his dad, he said that he felt that he was there while he was on the stage.

Teddy touched on the fact that he felt "liberated" as he shared his whole story and got naked on stage.

He explained that the reason he went on the show was so the public can understand the journey he went on when his dad passed.

The star wants people to learn from what he went through.

Teddy has been able to process what happened as he has been able to speak about it more.

He said that "cancer doesn't discriminate" no matter what type of person.

Sharing his story has made him understand the journey he's been on as Teddy he said he now knows how he actually feels about losing his dad.

He's now encouraging those who are going through a similar thing to speak about what they're experiencing.

The TV star explained why he always wears his gold necklace in most photos.

He said he wears the chain every day because he lost his "hero" and so he is always with him.

Teddy will join other celebs for the show including EastEnders actress Laila Morse, TV presenter Martin Roberts, Blue singer Duncan James, model Christine McGuiness, Olympian Colin Jackson, ex-Strictly dancers James and Ola Jordan, musical theatre and Loose Women star Brenda Edwards and Love Island's Demi Jones.

Teddy has recently moved into a house with his girlfriend Faye Winter who he met while they both competed on Love Island.

The pair of them went through some tough times but now seem to be stronger than ever.

They often post updates of each other on their social media pages including the work they're doing on their new house.

It's thought they've moved to Faye's home of Devon so she's still close to her friends and family.
