Love Island’s Sophie and Mike clash over ‘distasteful’ joke in explosive reunion

Love Island’s Sophie Piper struggled to see eye-to-eye with Mike Boateng as the pair clashed over a “distasteful” joke in a heated reunion.

The former islanders reunited for a joint radio interview with CapitalXTRA but things quickly went pear-shaped when Mike had some things to say to Sophie and Leanne Armaning for poking fun at him in a recent TikTok video.

In the TikTok clip, Sophie pretends to be Mike during one of his many awkward conversations with Leanne during their short-lived romance in the villa.

As Mike called them out for the video, Sophie instantly became defensive, saying: “That was literally a joke. The TikTok thing, obviously we was asked to do it and we literally done it as a joke.”

And as Mike tried to get a word in, Sophie instantly shut him down, saying: “Sorry I'm talking, can I just, sorry, we literally done it as a joke.

“There was no malicious[ness], like they was literally like, 'Oh should we do a funny TikTok blah blah blah'. We done it as a joke.”

But Mike wasn’t having any of it, as he was left unimpressed by what Sophie had to say.

He said: “You know what, that's fine but it wasn't funny. It wasn't actually funny first of all, second of all. I found out through the public like.

“Someone sent it to me like, 'Have you seen this?', and I just saw bare comments, of people ripping into me.”

Mike continued: "I saw the video and I was like, 'Woah what the hell?' and for me - we went to the same place - and they also asked me to do a similar video and I just said no.

“So for me, it's one of them ones where you can never be forced to do anything, if you don't want to do something, say ‘no’."

But Sophie made sure to have the last word, admitting: “I wanted to do it. It was a bit of banter.”

And as they clashed over the joke, Priscilla Anyabu rushed to her boyfriend’s defence, saying: “It was a bit untasteful [sic], I think that's what it is.

“When you lot say funny, that wasn't really funny.”
