Love Island's Sherif Lanre posts that he's on 'lockdown' after being kicked out the villa

Love Island's Sherif Lanre has claimed he is on 'lockdown' in his first Instagram post - but has now deleted it.

The 20-year-old Sherif left the Love Island villa this week after breaking villa rules.

However the reasons behind his departure from the show have not yet been revealed.

Today Sherif took to his Instagram for the first time since leaving the villa and made reference to being on 'lockdown'.

Alongside a picture of himself, lying topless in bed with his arms behind his head, the chef-come-rugby player wrote: 'Just waiting...#lockdown #itiswhatitis.

The post, which was liked almost 10,000 times has now been removed.

The reasons behind the contestant's exit has not been revealed however in a statement Sherif said he "regrets that he didn't conduct himself in the right way."

A Love Island spokesperson said: “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Sherif said: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

Sherif says he can have a wandering eye, but is very loyal (ITV)

"I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”

Sherif was coupled up with Anna Vakili and producers confirmed to the ECHO that she would be staying in the show.
