Love Island's Shaughna Phillips thinks this year's male contestants are 'trash'

Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has revealed what she really thinks of this year's lineup.

The former Islander, who appeared on the ITV2 dating show's 2020 winter season, was in a couple with Callum Jones, until he met, and later coupled up with, Molly Smith in Casa Amor, leaving Shaughna single.

The 27-year-old appeared on Love Island : Aftersun on Sunday night alongside her fellow former islander Nas Masjeed to give her thoughts on the show, from her favourite - and least favourite - contestants to who she'd couple up with.

"I like Liberty [Poole] but I don't like the couple Liberty is in," Shaughna said, before confirming that she 'doesn't like Jake'.

Asked whether she would couple with any of the male islanders currently in the villa, Shaughna added: "Teddy is giving me Ovie [Soko] vibes. He's cool. He's calm. All of the originals: trash."

The original group of male contestants she's referring to include: Brad McClelland, Jake Cornish, Toby Aromolaran, Aaron Francis and Hugo Hammond.

Shaughna has been really candid about her Love Island experience recently, as she opened up about the lengths she went to before appearing on the show.

In a 17-minute YouTube video, she revealed that she refused to eat a single Quality Street over Christmas and asked her friend to "fat shame" her.

"I think for me and the series that I was in, we had it the hardest... because the casting process was over Christmas," Shaughna explains.

"Everyone and anyone indulges, but because we knew we were potentially going into the villa, I for one did not have one Quality Street that whole Christmas season... Now, that was a bad Christmas.

"I was very, very strict," Shaughna then remarks. "I don't think I had dessert at Christmas dinner, I don't really drink anyway."
