Love Island's Shaughna Phillips claims producers urged her to cheat on Callum

Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips has claimed producers of the show urged her to kiss another boy when she was already partnered up with Callum Jones.

Shauna appeared on the winter 2020 version of Love Island shot in South Africa, and was famously ditched by Callum when he came back from Casa Amor with another girl.

She has now opened up about her time in the villa, claiming she was told to snog Connagh Howard during a challenge instead of picking her partner Callum.

In an interview with The Independent, Shaughna explained:"When we done the like soldier drill. We had to dress up in camouflage or whatnot, I think I might have just gone on my date with Connagh with a G [Connagh Howard].

"And at the end of the drill we had to choose a boy to kiss, and producers took me to the side and said, 'We think you should kiss Connagh rather than Callum'.

"And I was like, 'no, I don't really want to do that,' and they were like 'No, you should. You really should.'

"And I was like, 'Well, I'm not going to.' And they tried for about twenty minutes with me but I held firm."

After staying true to Callum, Shaughna was left devastated after he paired up with model Molly Smith during his stint in the other villa and she dropped her now famous catchphrase "Congrats, hun" after seeing them walk in together.

Shaughna also recently spoke about the lengths she went to to get in shape before she appeared on the show.

Speaking on YouTube, she revealed that she'd asked a friend to "fat shame" her before she went to South Africa for filming.

"I think for me and the series that I was in, we had it the hardest... because the casting process was over Christmas," Shaughna explained.

"Everyone and anyone indulges, but because we knew we were potentially going into the villa, I for one did not have one Quality Street that whole Christmas season... Now, that was a bad Christmas.

"I was very, very strict," Shaughna then remarks. "I don't think I had dessert at Christmas dinner, I don't really drink anyway."

Shaughna has also used her YouTube channel to speak about her former eating disorder.

"In 2016, 2017, I had a really bad relationship with food," she said. "I don't really like to call it an eating disorder because mainly I think I'm just in a bit of denial."

"Essentially I did have an eating disorder, I got into some really bad habits, I was terribly unhealthy.

"I would literally be happy if I could go as long as possible without eating, I'd feel like I'd accomplished something. If I did eat something, I'd feel like I'm an actual failure. I was weighing myself constantly and I got really skinny."

She continued: "I remember looking in the mirror, thinking, 'All my life, I've wanted to be skinny and now I'm skinny. I don't know how to stop it. I don't know how to fix the position I was in'. It had taken over my whole life.

"Friends would always say to me, 'There's a problem, you've got a problem' and I'd be like, 'No, I haven't, I wish. I'm big'."

In more recent years and months, Shaughna has said she still keeps an eye on her weight, but feels she has a healthier relationship with her body.

Talking about how she had been weighing herself under lockdown, she commented: "I accepted what I was doing last week wasn't helping."
