Love Island's Sharon slammed after comparing plastic surgery 'discrimination' to racism

Love Island fans have lashed out at Sharon after she compared people "discriminating" against those with plastic surgery to racism.

The villa exploded this evening after Hugo Hammond said that his biggest turn-off in a potential partner was "fakeness" and that his ideal best features were a "leggy blonde who isn't fake".

Sharon and Faye were left fuming with the comments, with the latter branding it "ignorant as f***".

Initially, Hugo hadn't realised that he had said anything wrong and when he discovered that the girls were upset, went over to speak to Sharon on the daybeds.

He insisted: "I meant no harm by it and I'm really sorry."

But Sharon lashed out, fuming: "You're coming across as fake as s***."

She continued: "You saying you wouldn’t get with a girl with lip fillers is like me saying I don’t like someone because of their race."

Hugo began to get emotional as he said that he felt as though he had "let them down".

But fans were not impressed with Sharon's comparison and took to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: "Sharon, not liking Botox or implants is nowhere near not wanting to date someone because of their race. #LoveIsland."

While another commented: "Sharon compared surgery to race and height. Ok."

A third wrote: "Nah these girls need to get educated. Not her comparing fillers to race. #Loveisland."

"i’m sorry she did not just compare not dating someone because of their race to not dating someone because they’ve had plastic surgery," another commented.

One tweeted: "Has Sharon just compared lip fillers to race? #LoveIsland I have no words."

Another questioned: "How can you compare choosing to get surgery to being a certain race or height?"

*Love Island airs tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2
