Love Island's Sharon Gaffka hits back at trolls after rude messages

Love Island star Sharon Gaffka pleaded with fans to be kind as she became the latest girl to be dumped from the villa.

She posted an Instagram image of herself at a bar in Manchester with the caption: "Finally back in the UK, laying on my sofa with the pizza I've been craving for weeks! Huge shout out to my day one @zaranmorgan for managing my Instagram while working like an absolute boss! I couldn't do it without you!

"Thank you so much to everyone who has sent messages love and support! It's been a huge whirlwind so it all means the world to me!"

She continued: "But also a reminder to those who have taken time to send me some less pleasant messages, please remember that I am only human. Summer 2021 hasn't ended just yet!"

Sharon became the latest girl to be dumped from the island during Sunday's dramatic recoupling.

She had previously received hateful messages following her heated exchange with Hugo Hammond, after he said he didn't like "fake" girls.

In fact, this series of Love Island has been marred by the issue of online abuse, with the contestants' family and friends having to call out hateful messages.

Chloe Burrows was sent death threats after her early decision to couple up with Aaron Francis meant Shannon Singh was dumped from the island.

Previous Love Island contestants Dani Dyer and Megan Barton Hanson have also urged fans to be kind.

The reality stars shared the same message on their Instagram pages: "Love Island is back. So here is a reminder. While these people have chosen to put themselves in the public eye, nobody deserves to be trolled, belittled or judged. There is power in our words/actions. In a world where you can be anything, be kind."
