Love Island's Shannon Singh defends Hugo after 'fake gate' row with Faye and Sharon

Scottish Love Island evictee Shannon Singh has backed islander Hugo following the 'fake gate' row which caused drama in the villa.

The former glamour model from Fife said that she believes the PE teacher is "quite within his right" to say he "doesn't like fake girls".

Last week, Hugo was upset after Faye and Sharon called him out for offending them with his comments about disliking "fake" personality and looks in one of the challenges.

Social media went into a frenzy after they had a huge disagreement, with many viewers agreeing with Faye and Sharon's argument, while others were backing Hugo.

But Shannon, who was the first person to be dumped from the villa, has revealed Hugo did nothing wrong with sharing his preference in women.

During a Facebook Live with The Mirror, Scottish beauty Shannon shared: "With Sharon and the Hugo thing, I think Hugo was quite within his right to say he doesn't like fake girls. What was wrong with that?"

After the falling out, Aaron, who is coupled up with Sharon, admitted he doesn't like "fiery" women - with Shannon telling us she thinks it put him off.

"I think Sharon's reaction did put Aaron off," Shannon added. "It would put me off."

Aaron also divided viewers with his opinion of women having arm hair.

"The hairy arms thing really got me," Shannon said. "I don't think it's fair. If anyone's watching and you've got hairy arms, so do I - it's normal.

"I've got such dark hair and when I was younger, I used to shave my arms when I was in high school because some people used to make fun out of me for it.

"When I saw that he said that, it kind of ruffled my feathers a bit. Are girls not supposed to have hairy arms? What are you on about?"

Shannon was booted out of the villa after just 48 hours - making her the first contestant to leave Love Island in the shortest amount of time.

Shannon said she is "rooting" for Liberty and Jake to win the show, although she thinks he needs to "buck up his ideas" in a bid to keep her, after they were tested by Lucinda and Millie following their recent bombshell arrival.

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
