Love Island's rules and why Sherif Lanre got kicked out

Sherif Lanre who was kicked off Love Island after breaking the show's rules said he regrets not "conducting" himself in the "right way".

Sherif had been coupled up with Anna Vakili but it's been reported that he mutually agreed with bosses to leave the show after breaking one of its strictest rules.

ITV hasn't revealed exactly why he's been removed from the show but Sherif said: "In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

"I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.

"I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."

ITV said the decision was "mutually agreed" and added: "After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa."

There are no more details about why Sherif, 20, was booted from the villa but it's hoped it'll be explained on the show over the next few days.

The Love Island rules

Islanders are allowed to drink but not to the point where they get drunk.

Liana Isadora Van-Riel, who was on the 2016 show told The Sun Online last year: "You're allowed one or two drinks a night, either wine or beer, no spirits".

She mentioned that on most nights people just drink one or just have a cup of tea but on a "big night" like eviction night contestants will typically have two drinks.

There are also strict rules on smoking. Nobody is allowed to smoke inside the villa and only one islander is able to head to the smoking shelter at a time.

Islanders must practice safe sex and are provided with condoms.

They're also offered STI tests before entering the villa to make sure they're all 'clean'.

According to the Mirror , they're not allowed to be fully naked in front of each other either and there's a ban on masturbation.

They're not even allowed to be fully naked in the shower technically. Tthat's because the villa is considered a public place and stripping off in public isn't allowed.

Finally islanders aren't allowed their own phones in the villa. Instead they're given little basic phones, with which they can text each other but mainly they're used for the now-iconic "I've got a text!" moments.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2
