Love Island's Rebecca and Jordan go their separate ways after dumping in surprise split

Tonight's drama-filled Love Island episode saw tensions flying high as the couple with the least public votes was booted off the villa.

Rebecca Gormley and Jordan Waobikeze were shockingly that couple - and what was even more surprising than them leaving was the fact they decided to leave their flame to burn out.

As all the couples gathered round the firepit, Rebecca and Jordan were announced as the islanders with the least votes.

And to the surprise of many viewers, the pair called their romance off as soon as they were voted off.

Speaking of when she met Jordan fr the first time, Rebecca said: "As soon as I saw the guys coming in, Jordan was the first guy I clocked and I thought he’s a bit of me."

She added: "When I was asking him what his type was, everything he was saying was literally me. We got on straight away."

But after going from 0 to 100 within a day or so, Rebecca recalled: "Everyone was like you’re married off and I was like, ‘Hold on a minute, I am not married off. It’s been a couple of days.’

"Yes, I kissed him on the first day and things went quick, but I had to take a step back.

"Because everyone had married us off, I didn't even get a chance to crack on with any of the lads, he didn't get a chance to crack on with any of the other girls. I think that’s probably why I’m in the position I’m in now."

But surprisingly, Rebecca admits their romance was not as hot as it seemed to viewers at home.

She said: "Everyone wants to still have that excitement, no one wants that excitement to go. You still want things to be fresh and keep you guessing. I felt like after a few days I was just like ‘Oh, is this it?’"

The sudden break-up suggests not everything that goes on between couples is documented in each night's episodes, and this pair's love journey seems to have fallen behind the lens.

But despite the pair's decision to go their separate ways romantically, Rebecca insists they are friends.

When asked where they are leaving their relations at, she said: "I would say just a friendship. In the villa it got to a point where things went to a standstill and I didn't see things progressing.

"It wasn't going anywhere. And I think if you want to be with someone things should be progressing every day, not at a standstill. It became a friendship rather than being in a romantic couple."
