Love Island's Nas admits it was 'out of sight, out of mind' when he snubbed Demi for Eva

Ex Love Island star Nas Majeed has admitted it was 'out of sight, out of mind' when he snubbed Demi Jones in favour of Casa Amor bombshell Eva.

The cheeky Islander, 23, was axed from the show alongside Rebecca Gormley and Casa Amor newbies Eva and Jordan in last night's explosive double couple dumping.

Speaking for the first time since leaving the sun-soaked South African villa, Nas shockingly revealed he forget about his romance with fiery redhead Demi just a day after sparking a connection with new girl Eva in the other villa.

The dumped star also admitted that his decision to snub Demi was made easier after original islander Callum Jones sent the villa into meltdown as he ditched Shaughna Phillips for Molly Smith.

Nas tried to defend himself as he reiterated how Demi was "at the forefront of my mind on day one", but couldn't ignore his connection with Eva.

He said: "Going into Casa Amor, she was at the forefront of my mind on day one. But yeah, out of sight, out of mind. When you do have a genuine connection with someone else, it’s impossible to ignore that.

"I really had to go with my heart over my head."

The former ITV2 dating show contestant also slammed claims that he decided to take his chances with Eva due to other male contestants' heads turning.

At first, he insisted he is not influenced by 'peer pressure', before confessing that Callum's Casa Amor antics with Molly 'softened the blow."

The cheeky lad added: "Callum coupling up with Molly probably did help soften the blow to a certain extent, but I feel like I still would have made that same decision as I do genuinely feel like me and Eva really do get along."

The builder also addressed reports that Demi was besotted with him as she devoted all of her attention to their blossoming romance before it all came crashing down after Casa Amor.

He said: "I was obviously very flattered. She said, ‘I’ve only got eyes for you’."

The sports science graduate thanked the nation for supporting him and proved his confident nature as he joked he "always trusted in my sauce."

Nas became famous during the first few weeks of the show as he was continuously friend-zoned by numerous girls in the villa.

Describing himself as the kind of person that 'grows on you', Nas added: "Not necessarily, straight off the bat will you think, this guy’s for me, but I will grow on you.

"My personality is a 10 out of 10."

Last night, viewers were divided over the exits, with Nas initially one of the favourites on the series.

But after he ditched Demi for new girl Eva, who he met in Casa Amor, fans soon turned on him.

It only worsened when he promised not to rub it in Demi's face, only to pack on the PDA right in her view.

Speaking about his decision to kiss Eva despite repeatedly insisting how 'respectful' he is, Nas apologised for the smooches and 'held his hands up."

He said: "In my defence, me and Eva were talking under the covers, when it was light, I think Demi assumed we were kissing which is when she got upset.

"But we actually tried to be a bit more respectful and try and kiss silently, when the lights were off... out of sight, you couldn’t hear us."

The axed star finished by saying sorry: "But at the same time, to explain that to Demi was still a kick in the teeth. So I’ll hold my hands up, I do apologise."

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm.
