Love Island's most explosive fights ever: Kady punch, Malin and Terry face off to Ofcom storm

Things got heated in the Love Island villa on Thursday night, as the islanders were forced to step in as Shaq Muhammad and Harris Namani came to blows in the last minutes of the show.

Shaq accused Haris of 'stirring s**t' and the pair began shouting at each other during the explosive row, before the rest of the boys stepped in and told the warring islanders to go to other parts of the villa in order to calm down.

While a few lucky contestants have actually found true love on the show, the ITV2 show became the huge phenomenon it is today arguably because of its fiery arguments and shocking twists - some of which have occasionally proved controversial and resulted in thousands of complaints.

Here's a look back over some of the most biggest fights in Love Island history...

Jon Clark and Hannah Elizabeth (series 1)

Hannah didn't let her partner get away with disrespecting her during her Love Island stint (ITV)

The first ever series of Love Island kicked off in dramatic style in 2015, when former Playboy bunny Hannah Elizabeth and Jon Clark had a fiery row.

While these two ended up leaving the villa as a couple, and were even voted as the Power Couple at one point, it was not plain sailing at all for the pair, especially when Jon suspected Hannah of being inappropriate.

The lads got the chance to go to Magaluf with Calum Best and party it up, and Hannah was worried maybe something had gone on, while Jon was concerned Hannah had also been inappropriate by flashing her boobs at someone.

Jon stormed off down the stairs (ITV)

As Hannah was sorting out her hair, she started shouting at one another, as Hannah ordered him to "talk to a few scruffs in Magaluf" if he wanted to.

Jon then stormed away, frustrated Hannah was making so much of their discussion, but he had already said in the Beach Hut: "As a boyfriend, when you see something like that, it's going to piss any man off...

"I don't mind her getting her t*ts out when I'm there, not when I'm not there... That geezer looking at them, that's what pissed me off."

Needless to say, the pair didn't last too long on the outside.

Malin Andersson and Terry Walsh (series 2)

Malin and Terry's relationship was turbulent to say the least - they even had a row over a toastie at one point.

However, they soon entered a proper relationship which dramatically ended when Malin was dumped from the villa and Terry proceeded to get with bombshell Emma-Jane Woodhams days later.

Malin later returned for one final showdown with Terry, which was all topped off when he accidentally walked away with Malin's sunglasses instead of his own.

Kady McDermott and Malia Arkian (series 2)

Malia was the first contestant on Love Island to enter the villa and then be removed on the same day.

During her very brief stint on the show, she was involved in a huge showdown with Kady after picking her partner Scott for a date.

When they returned from said date, Kady "accidentally" spilled wine of Malia's leg, sparking an explosive confrontation which quickly got physical.

Kady was comforted off-camera (ITV2)

"To diffuse the situation they had to call Kady in to get her away from it and then somebody would have spoken to her in there and then it was reported back to the rest of us," Malin, who watched the fight, recalled to the Mirror in 2019.

"We all knew what the real reason was," said Malin. "They don't tolerate [that behaviour] at all.

"That was it, done."

Malia remains the only Love Island contestant to ever be removed from the villa by bosses, but many have come close over the years.

Theo Campbell and Jonny Mitchell (series 3)

Theo and Jonny (ITV)

Runner Theo Campbell wasn't in the villa for long but he was still responsible for a handful of iconic moments which have gone down in the show's history.

During one of the most dramatic recouplings Love Island has had, Theo recouped with Tyla Carr which prompted Johnny to call him a 'b*****d* and the pair almost came to blows at the firepit.

Days later, when Johnny was dumped from the island, he angered half the villa when he dropped this classic line: "I think if Tyla really liked him she should go as well really".

Speaking to the Mirror in 2018, Theo explained how before entering the villa, Islanders are warned about doing three main things in the villa that could send them packing.

These are: fighting, being sexually forceful and racist slurs.

Yet Theo quipped: "I was quite naughty on there but I wasn't even close to being kicked out."

Montana Brown and Olivia Attwood (series 3)

Olivia and Montana had a spat in the villa (ITV)

Montana was not happy when she felt Olivia had been confrontational outside, in front of everyone.

As Montana tried to tell Olivia she felt this way, Olivia was not impressed and thoroughly disagreed, and then everyone started to stand around and watch as the pair argued and fought back at one another in a violent brawl in the bedroom.

Olivia wanted to know how Montana could think she had been confrontational, and ended up screaming in her face before Marcel Somerville stepped in and tried to stop the pair from arguing.

Liv stormed off and Marcel then tried to stop the argument, until she then started shouting at him, saying: "You don't know the f***ing backstory!"

Sam Gowland and Chris Hughes (series 3)

The guys seem ready to step in and break up any fight (LoveIsland/Twitter)

Sam and Olivia had been getting in pretty well over their time in Love Island, but Chris was interested in making the moves on her, but didn't want to go behind Sam's back.

Despite this, Sam was pretty convinced Chris was doing something he was not happy with, and fought back while chris tried to tell him how innocent his efforts were.

The pair were having a very unfriendly chat, and immediately the other boys tried to stop them from gouging their eyes out, with Kem Cetinay suggesting they sit down.

But things escalated quickly as Sam moved towards Chris, and the other lads jumped in to try and keep them apart.

Luckily, they succeeded, and Sam was sent away.

Georgia Steel and Ellie Brown (series 4)

Ellie screamed at her villa-mate (ITV)

The fallout from Georgia's kiss with Laura Anderson's man Jack Fowler rumbled on for days, despite her insisting repeatedly that she's "loyal" throughout the fourth series.

She had suggested that the snog was all him, and she'd not been part of it at all, causing a huge rift in the house as Laura was left with no idea who to believe.

The 'loyal' star's behaviour later brought the worst out of fellow contestant Ellie, who proceeded to swear at Georgia during a particularly heated exchange about her loyalty.

Georgia shouted at her, as did Ellie, until Ellie really put a full stop to the fight when she branded Georgia an "ugly c***."

Rosie Williams and Adam Collard (series 4)

Adam was 'smirking' as Rosie cried (ITV)

This was one of the most famous fights of the 2018 season, with Rosie and Adam's discussion being called "gaslighting" by a woman's charity.

Rosie had got in pretty deep with Adam, a man who had already left other girls for her, until he decided he quite liked the look of new girl Zara McDermott.

The Welsh firecracker was absolutely livid about this and tried to explain how she felt, and ended up crying throughout their discussion.

Adam came under fire as he listened and watched on, but was clearly smirking at her while she tearfully told him how bruised he had left her.

Ouch.

Maura Higgins and Tom Walker (series 5)

Maura and Tom (ITV)

Things were going well between Maura and Tom, and the pair were just minutes away from spending the night in the Hideaway together.

However, their blossoming romance quickly went south when Tom an off-the-cuff remark to the other boys, saying that it would be good to see if Maura was "all mouth".

A disgusted Maura overheard, confronted him and then put him in his place as Tom attempted to salvage the situation.

Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames (series 5)

Anna was not impressed with her then-boyfriend (ITV)

Just two days after asking Anna to be his girlfriend, Jordan decided pursue new contestant India -a decision which led to one of the most furious showdowns ever seen on the show.

As Jordan tried to wriggle out of the situation, Anna tore him to shreds, screaming "two days!" and telling him: "No wonder you've never had a girlfriend".

Referencing the fact they were boyfriend and girlfriend, Anna yelled: "You just asked me out and you like her. Is that how much of a f***ing idiot you are?"

Red-faced Jordan then insisted he didn't know what Anna is on about as she cried: "What the f***?"

Anna was then pulled away from Jordan before the argument got any more heated.

Faye Winter and Teddy Soares (series 7)

Faye's screaming match with her now-boyfriend attracted Ofcom complaints (ITV)

After a movie night which showed what Teddy got up to in Casa Amor, Faye exploded and screamed at Teddy in front of the entire villa while he remained calm.

The incident was one of the most controversial in the show's history, with more than 25,000 viewers making complaints to Ofcom.

After her explosive screaming match with now-boyfriend, Faye was taken off-camera and spoken to by producers in 2021.

Faye was told to apologise by Love Island bosses (ITV)

The row saw Faye call Teddy a 'two-faced p****' and warned the rest of the male cast 'I'll f***ing fall out with all you p***** if I need to'.

Love Island bosses reportedly told Faye to apologise for her shouty rant or face being booted off the show.

"Faye was ordered by producers to apologise to Teddy, and not only that but to grovel for forgiveness," a TV insider told the MailOnline at the time.

"They warned if she refused to back down her place on the show could be in doubt and as the latest arrivals have shown, there's always a new contestant waiting in the wings."

Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu (series 8)

Davide was not impressed in the villa (ITV)

"You are a liar and actress, get the f**k out," became one of the most iconic lines ever uttered in a Love Island villa in 2022.

Davide and Ekin-Su went on the win last year's series of the ITV2 show, but not before clashing and providing some iconic scenes with their bickering and arguements.

"You're faker than a Louis Vuitton from China", the Italian islander yelled at his now-girlfriend during one fallout.

The pair are seemingly much happier on the outside world and are still loved up to this day.

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
