Love Island's most complained about moments revealed ahead of new series

Love Island's most complained about moments have been revealed as fans get excited for the new series.

There was plenty of intrigue this week after the show's host Laura Whitmore was spotted shooting what looks to be trailer for the 2021 in London, with the street full of summer themed props like flamingos and suitcases.

While she didn't confirm or deny the shoot was for Love Island, Laura did declare on Instagram that she was 'shooting something big' so fans were very quick to react.

Love Island has been on our screens for six years now, making its debut on ITV2 in 2015 and making winners from the likes of Dani Dyer & Jack Fincham, Amber Gill & Greg O'Shea, Amber Davies & Kem Cetinay.

But away from the cash prizes and romance, the show has also given us plenty of drama and its fair share of controversy.

And USwitch have revealed which six moments have sparked the most complaints to Ofcom.

1. Dani seeing Jack's ex in Casa Amor - 2,525 complaints

The number one moment that saw fans erupt was in series four in 2018.

The series got over 4,000 complaints with well over 2,000 of them for the episode when Dani was left distraught and sobbing in the confessionals room at seeing Jack’s ex had entered Casa Amor and was living with him for the next few days.

Some viewers argued that the clip shown to Dani had been manipulated to look way worse than it was.

2. Joe's behaviour towards Lucy - 500-2,000 complaints

In 2019, Joe was accused of 'gas lighting' due to his behaviour towards Lucy in the villa, when he told her he was worried she wasn’t spending enough time with the other female islanders.

The moment, which even sparked Women’s Aid chief executive, Adina Claire to speak out about the ‘controlling behaviour’ witnessed, reportedly triggered over 500 complaints alone.

Further complaints, also made in respect of Lucy’s welfare, brought a combined total of 2,000.

3. Maura's advances towards Tommy - 709 complaints

Number three on the list is all to do with how newcomer to the villa in 2019, Maura pursued Tommy.

In the moment concerned, Maura sits on top of him and attempts to go in for a kiss, only for Tommy to turn away.

Fans responded that the scene made them feel uncomfortable, with many going as far as to say it was sexual harassment.

4. Georgia and Jack's kiss - 655 complaints

This was the kiss that caused ructions in the villa in 2018 and had viewers furious as Georgia claimed that Jack, who was coupled up with Laura, initiated it, when it was her.

Viewers expressed concern for Laura after she suffered another knockback, but then the situation was cleared up by new Islander Kieran, who confirmed Georgia was lying.

5. Paige and Finn 'fake news' - 544 complaints

'Fake news' about Finn (ITV)

The winners of Winter Love Island last year were at the centre of 'fake news' complaints over a task.

The Islanders were shown a headline, which reported that Finn’s head had been turned in Casa Amor, after vowing to stay faithful.

Fans said it was misleading of the show to use this headline.

6. Post-Casa Amor fallout - 314 complaints

Michael and Amber's argument sparked Ofcom complaints (ITV)

The girls' return from Casa Amor caused no end of drama in 2019, with Amber arriving back in the villa to see Michael with another girl and Amy learning that Curtis had tried to start something with one of the newcomers.

A huge argument erupted between Amber and Michael, while Amy was left in tears.

Amy ended up walking of the villa, while Curtis made the final with Maura and Amber won with Greg.
