Love Island's Molly-Mae speaks out over trolling for first time amid therapy claims

Love Island 2019 runners-up Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury spoke out about trolling on This Morning, following negative comments the couple faced during their time in the villa.

Viewers repeatedly accused Molly of being a game player on the show, with her co-stars forced to support her on leaving the villa to deny the claims.

The pair made their daytime TV debut in their first interview since their appearance on Aftersun, on the show on Friday morning.

Speaking to hosts Mollie King and Rochelle Humes, Molly addressed comments for the first time amid reports she had therapy to deal with the hateful remarks.

The pair fought back against the trolls, both admitting the negative opinions didn't affect their romance, and didn't matter.

Molly said: "I think because we are in such a bubble, we're so happy and we are great together, I’ve not been paying much attention to it.

"You’ve just got to focus on this and each other and yourself, prioritise the things that are important.

"Everyone's gonna have an a opinion and I think we know that that's fine, we knew that going into the show when we came out some people's opinions might be positive, they might not, it just depends. It's fine, we're very happy."

Tommy added: "When you're in the public eye as Molly said, everybody is gonna have an opinion on things.

"The only opinions that matter are who's in the relationship, and your family, that's it really."

Her comments come after reports she accepted the offer of therapy to help cope with the comments - something all islanders are offered as part of the aftercare when leaving the show.

Molly also denied thinking she and Tommy were going to win, after Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea took the crown, admitting that thought doesn't enter your head when you're in the villa.

She explained: "I think Maura was shocked but we weren't. When you're in there you have no idea what the public think, you don’t know what everyone is saying and you're not in there for that.

"People need to realise that's not even in your mind, when you're in that villa you're not thinking about the final, you're not thinking about winning. It's note even in your head, you're thinking in the moment."

This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am on ITV.
