Love Island's Molly-Mae Instagram post banned for breaking advertising rules

A post uploaded by Love Island runner up Molly Mae has been banned on Instagram.

The social media influencer and reality TV star is the latest in a string of celebs to have a complaint upheld against her.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), says that a picture on her Instagram of the 20-year-old wearing an outfit from online retailer Pretty Little Thing (PLT) was not clearly identifiable as an advert.

PLT says that Molly-Mae's post was "organically" shared on the picture-sharing app.

The star has a contract with the fashion empire which states that sponsored material must be clearly labelled as such.

Molly-Mae is a brand ambassador for PLT, which means she must use #ad on every post that is sponsored.

However, the former Islander failed to add the hashtag - or something of the sort - on her post, instead just tagging the brand in the picture.

Both PLT and the star have argued that the post was not included in her contractual agreement, as it fell outside the realms of their partnership.

Both the fashion empire and Molly-Mae said that post simply demonstrated her genuine interest in PLT clothing.

The girlfriend of Tommy Fury earned a reported £500,000 from her contract with PLT.

She has 3.6 million followers on Instagram, where she regularly posts outfit pictures and snippets about her life.

Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury met on Love Island last year, and the pair have been together ever since.

The couple made it all the way to final, but weren't crowned the winners.
