Some Love Island fans were left aghast when Millie chose to split the £50k prize money with Liam, but the fashion buyer says she was never going to keep the haul for herself.
Having been declared the series' winners on last night's show, the couple were handed an envelope each.
Millie's contained the £50,000 prize fund while Welshman Liam was left with nothing.
However, opting to choose 'love', Millie agreed to split the cash.
When asked whether she had ever thought of keeping the bounty for herself, the 24-year-old said: “No, never. That didn’t cross my mind.
"I came on the show to find love at the end of the day, so we said for ages now anything after we found what we found was a bonus. Then to receive that money, it was just incredible.

"But there wasn’t a doubt in my mind - I was going to share that with Liam because we’re about to experience life together.”
Bricklayer Liam was in complete agreement gushing: “What I have with Millie money can’t buy, any money in the world would mean nothing to me unless I had Millie with me.
"I would have been splitting it one hundred million percent.”

Fans would be forgiven for questioning the Essex native's choice after Liam cheated on her in Casa Amor with Lillie.
Fans were initially thrilled to discover that Millie, who had been a firm favourite since she stepped into the villa, had been handed the whopping prize fund.
And while there's no doubt that Liam redeemed his reputation, many fans were left seething Miilie didn't take the ultimate revenge and keep the money for herself.
One fan tweeted: "Really wanted Millie to steal and say ‘that’s for Lillie you p****'," while another added: "A wee bit of me wanted Millie to steal the money there Rolling on the floor laughing as revenge for Casa Amor."
"Can’t believe Millie didn’t steal the money. Should have played the long game hun," a third added.
While it hasn't always been smooth sailing for the couple, it looks like distance won't be a problem in their relationship as Liam's sister Niamh said her brother would ditch the Welsh cakes for Essex.
Speaking on Capital South Wales FM, she said: "Liam, I don’t think he was ever going to settle in Merthyr anyways, so I think it’s just easier for him to go up closer to Millie.

"He’s got loads of friends around the Essex and London area anyway, so I just think, it’s just easier for him to go."
Niamh also revealed she was looking forward to meeting her brother's girlfriend saying: "Millie’s family just seems so down to earth when I watched the episode the other night.
"I honestly think we’ll all get on like a house on fire so I’m really looking forward to meeting her."
