Love Island's Michael says AJ Pritchard rung him after he grimaced at Curtis and Maura

Love Island star Michael Griffiths was sent home on Sunday alongside Francesca Allen, after their fellow islanders failed to save them from getting the chop.

But just hours after leaving the famous villa behind, he had already received a phone call from his pal Curtis Pritchard's brother to quiz him on his time in the villa.

While fans were quick to notice that his face was a picture when Curtis and Maura Higgins recoupled recently – grimacing as they piled on the PDA – Michael hinted that Strictly Come Dancing star AJ didn't harbour any bad feelings.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Online after his departure, Michael said: "Obviously as you said my face is a picture a lot of that comes out, and Curtis' brother has actually called me to ask loads of questions!"

During the chat, he added that he was fully supportive of every couple in the villa, and believed they were all genuine.

"I feel like it's quite a tough environment in there and when you go through certain situations and people aren't really backing you it puts a downer on your relationship.

"So I wouldn't say anyone in there is faking it cos I see them all day every day, and I see how well they get on."

Plus, the firefighter made a dramatic U-turn on his feelings for Amber Gill for the second time, claiming they're just friends.

"Me and Amber are literally just friends, and I think we kind of agreed it wouldn't work on the outside," he went on.

"It crossed my mind over the last week or so and that's why I had to revisit it in a sense. I didn't want to put any kind of pressure on Amber to come and see where it was with me. It was more of, if certain things happened I could then get more clarity on and it did actually help a lot."

Revealing that he had his ex Joanna Chimonides in his sights once again, he said: "I'm excited to speak to her but I'm not sure how - or if - she's going to speak to me.

"If Joanna tells me to leave her alone I'd totally respect that and I'd understand why she'd say that.

"I'd be upset 'cos I wouldn't be able to make things work but it's one of those things, everyone makes mistakes. I'd hope we could work towards it but if she doesn't want to revisit it then she doesn't want to revisit it. It's up to her, really."
