Love Island's Michael and Francesca both dumped - setting up explosive Aftersun

Michael Griffiths and Francesca Allen have both left the Love Island villa in a brutal double dumping.

The Liverpudlian firefighter, 27 and Essex shop owner, 23, failed to be saved by either the public or their fellow Islanders.

This sets up an explosive Aftersun as Michael will come face to face with Joanna Chimonides.

The pair found themselves in danger in the bottom three alongside Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames, and Chris Harper and Harley Brash.

It was up to the saved islanders to decide in their couples who would remain in the villa.

All of the couples vote for Anna and Jordan, except Ovie Soko and India Reynolds, who decided to keep Chris and Harley.

This mean that, with zero votes, Michael and Francesca were given the chop.

The pair packed their bags and bid an emotional farewell to their fellow Islanders.

Michael and Francesca will both be appearing on tonight's Aftersun to give their take on leaving the villa.

Speaking after his exit, Michael admitted that he had made mistakes but did not have any regrets.

He said: "Everybody makes mistakes. Personal mistakes no. Everything I did was for me, but did I go about things in the right way? Not all the time.

"But I have reconciled things with Amber and at the end of the day I’m only human. People make mistakes. I always said to Amber I never wanted to hurt her."

Michael wants to get back on track with Joanna (ITV)

Michael is keen to get his relationship with Joanna Chimonides back on track, despite making a u-turn back to Amber Gill.

He added: "I’m going to try and talk to Joanna but I know that she’ll have seen what’s gone on and I hope she understands I needed to make up to Amber. There was always going to be a natural draw between me and Amber because of how friendly we were.

"I did think about Joanna every day that she wasn’t there. She was always on my mind and I will try to speak to her."

Francesca ;earned a lot about herself in the villa (ITV)

Meanwhile, Francesca explained being in the villa was a massive life lesson and she learnt a lot about herself.

When asked if she was surprised to go, she said: "I wasn’t surprised at all. I didn’t find love and that’s the purpose of the show.

"I’m glad I went as Michael was ready to go and it gives everyone else an opportunity to grow as a couple, so I’m not disappointed."

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2
