Love Island's Mary Bedford heartbroken to learn beloved nan died during her time in villa

Love Island star Mary Bedford has shared the sad news that her beloved grandma died while she was in the villa.

Mary, who exited Love Island just days before this year's final with Aaron Simpson, shared a sweet picture of her and her gran as she told fans that she'd had to rush home to make it to the funeral after leaving the show.

The22-year-old reality TV star wrote alongside the snap: "Our angel on earth is now our angel in heaven.

"Coming off the show has been bitter sweet for me as I flew home to go to the funeral of my beautiful grandma who passed away whilst I was in the villa.

"I’ve been taking the time since the show to mourn, reflect, and be back with my loved ones before returning to my social media.

"I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support I have received at this difficult time, I truly appreciate everything."

Her pals, including those she starred alongside in Love Island, rushed to the comment section to send her well-wishes.

Faye Winter wrote in the replies: "Love you."

While runner-up Chloe Burrows posted a string of love heart emojis.

Fellow co-star Sharon Gaffka wrote: "Sending you lots of love Angel."

Mary also received support from ex-Love Island stars, including Molly-Mae Hague, who wrote: "Fly High beautiful lady - she’ll be so proud of you Mary."

Elle Brown added: "She will be so proud of you babe RIP."

Amid her heartbreak, there have been suggestion that Mary and Aaron have already split after leaving the villa.
During an appearance on Aftersun with Laura Whitmore, Mary said she hoped their romance would continue into the real world.

"It's still early days for us. Even though it’s only been 10 days it feels like we’ve been seeing each other for months.

"We said we’re definitely going to give it a go on the outside.

"Obviously everything changes when you get out so we said we’re just going to cross each bridge as it comes to it.

"We’re definitely going to see each other on the outside," she shared.

Aaron added: "We’ve already spoken about stuff we want to do when we’re outside. It’s exciting that we’ll be able to do normal couple stuff and form a deeper connection."

The couple were dumped off the show after receiving the fewest amount of votes from the public.

Discussing their exit, Mary and Aaron were upbeat, saying they couldn’t wait to start their journey on the outside together.

"I bagged a worldie", Aaron joked.

Mary coupled up with Dale Mehmet before getting with Aaron when he entered the villa, after he took her out on a date.
