Love Island's Marcel Somerville's heartache over losing four family members in three weeks

Love Island’s Marcel Somerville has opened up about losing four of his family members in the past month.

The 37-year-old, who featured on the third series of the reality dating show, took to Instagram to explain his recent social media silence, revealing that the losses he’s had to deal with have been a ‘slap in the face’.

He wrote in the caption: "This year has had so many highs and lows and it’s only February.

"I’ve lost 4 family members in 3 weeks and it’s really slapped me in the face."

But taking it all in his stride, Marcel told his followers that he plans on ‘enjoying every moment’ with his nearest and dearest.

Continuing in his post, he wrote: "Life is short, you never know what’s around the corner. So for the short time we are here fill you[r] life with love and adventure!

"Do the things that make you happy and enjoy every moment you can with the ones you love. Exclude all the negativity from your life and live for the people that bring positivity to your world."

It is not clear which family members Marcel has lost, but was flooded with support from both his friends and fans on the site.

Former X-Factor star Jake Quickenden commented: "Sending love bro always here if you wanna have a cuppa round mine x.”

Meanwhile, one fan wrote: “Condolences to you....sending all positive energy right back at you, you got this,” whilst another added: “All the best Marcel, your resiliency will pave the way and inspire others around you I’m sure…”

“Sorry for your losses. I know exactly how you feel I lost a family member in January,” a third added.

It comes as Marcel recently urged fans not to speculate about whether someone is pregnant, warning that you don't know what they may be going through privately.

The reality TV star - who had been a finalist on the ITV2 show back in 2017 - took to Instagram at the beginning of February to issue a message to his followers on the platform about such.

Marcel seemingly implied that he and his wife Rebecca Somerville, 27, had experienced pregnancy speculation recently whilst going through a miscarriage themselves.

The father-of-one's post warned that certain comments on social media can "hurt someone without intention" and they may "trigger some emotions" in such circumstances.
