Love Island's Luke Trotman suffered horrific double leg break and feared he'd never walk again

Love Island bombshell Luke Trotman broke his leg in two places in a horror injury during a football match.

Luke, a professional footballer who plays for Darlington FC, will enter the villa tonight alongside engineer Luke Mabbott, 24.

In 2014, the now 22-year-old hurt his leg so badly that he feared he would never walk again, let alone return to the pitch one day.

He was a right-back for Luton Town FC under 18s at the time and had to be hospitalised.

After he recovered he signed with non-league team Darlington FC, but that wouldn't be the last of his injuries.

In August he went to header the ball and heard his tendon pop.

Luke had to be carried off in a stretcher and was told he couldn't play for another eight months.

He told The Northern Echo: "I just went up for a header and when I landed I heard it pop.

He's currently not able to play football because of another injury (Instagram)

"I just rolled off the pitch, I didn't make a big deal and stop the game. Having broken my leg before I think the nerves there are a bit dull, so it didn't hurt that much.

"All the lads were saying I might be alright, but Danny (the physio) knew straight away. I couldn't walk, I couldn't lift my foot up.

"I was fine in the changing room, but as soon as I got to Danny's car I burst out crying! He's funny, Danny, and he looked after me."

Luke is looking for love (ITV)

Luke will continue his rehabilitation programme during Love Island with access to a gym and regular physiotherapy sessions.

Heading into the villa, he says he's definitely looking for love.

He said: "I'm definitely a relationship guy. I just like having someone to share things with, having someone to love. I have a lot of love to give."
