Love Island's Lucie confronts girls over 'real reason' they voted for her and Joe

Love Island 2019 contestants Joe Garratt and Elma Pazar were dumped from the villa on Tuesday, after a public vote twist.

A day earlier, all of the couples were tasked with picking the two least compatible couples on the show.

Joe and his partner Lucie Donlan faced Elma and her partner Anton Danyluk in the public vote, with it then confirmed the two dumped islanders would be one person from each couple.

Host Caroline Flack entered the villa in Tuesday’s episode to deliver the news, with Joe and Elma axed.

In the fallout, a devastated Lucie is considering leaving the villa after her partner’s exit.

But the emotional islander decides to confront the girls, wanting to know why her and Joe were picked.

Believing they were compatible, she suggests islanders didn’t vote fairly and instead based their vote on recent events.

After facing accusations of flirting with Tommy Fury, and a row with Amy Hart leading to the girls claiming Lucie wasn’t spending enough time with them, Lucie questions whether this was why certain couples picked her and Joe to be at risk.

During Wednesday’s episode, Lucie brings it up with Amy and the girls wanting answers.

Amy tells her: “We’ve all had our differences but situations like this make you realise that we all need to stick together. We’re going to support you.”

Lucie says: “But I feel like people have gone off friendship, not compatibility.”

Molly-Mae then reveals her chat with Joe just days ago when he questioned himself if they were suited, before asking Lucie: “Do you think that you and Joe would work on the outside?”

She responds: “Yeah,” with the pair having had a heart-to-heart just hours before the results came in.

Love Island airs all week at 9pm on ITV2.
