Love Island's Lillie Haynes told to kill herself by Instagram troll as she issues defiant reply

Lillie Haynes has shared the disgusting messages she was sent on Instagram as a troll told her to 'kill yourself already.'

The 22-year-old, who has just appeared on the latest series of Love Island, has seen her social media following soar in recent weeks, following her eventful stint on the ITV2 dating show.

While she was only on Love Island a week, the trainee accountant caused a real stir, especially when she dropped the bombshell to Millie that she'd be getting very close to Liam in Casa Amor.

Millie ended up forgiving Liam, with the couple crowned this year's winners at the end of Monday's live final.

South Shields girl Lillie joined some of her fellow Islanders at a party in Manchester to watch the final and, while she has earned herself plenty of admirers thanks to her Love Island appearance, including footballer Jack Grealish, Lillie has also had to contend with online abuse.

And on Thursday she shared a string of disgusting messages from the same person that landed in her Instagram inbox.

One of the messages read: "You're nothing but a toxic piece of s**t with cra*py eyebrows and a cra*py personality and you're better off dead."

In an equally vile tone, another read: "Absolute ugly b*tch you have nothing going for you."

After saying that Lillie looked like "a man in a wig," the Instagram user told her to 'watch her back,' before writing: "kill yourself already."

As well as posting the offensive messages on her Instagram story, Lillie also shared her powerful but dignified response.

She told the troll: "To be threatening someone you've never met absolutely blows my mind.

"I'm still so new to this world of exposure and I'm still learning along the way what's worth to address and what's not; this one I feel passionate about."

Lillie then added: "A man in a wig is f**king beautiful so if you want to try and insult me, try harder. I'm a huge LGBT+ supporter."

She ended the series of Instagram posts with some kind messages from followers, many of whom told her to 'focus on the positives.'

Instagram have told ChronicleLive the account responsible for sending the abuse to Lillie has been disabled.

They said: "Abusing and threatening others is unacceptable, and we don’t want it on Instagram. We understand how distressing it must have been for Lillie to receive these messages, and we’ve disabled the account that sent them for breaking our rules.

"We encourage anyone who experiences DMs like this to report them so we can take action, and to use the features we’ve developed to help protect people from abuse.

"These include Limits, which hides comments and DMs during spikes of unwanted attention, and Hidden Words, which allows you to filter abusive words, phrases and emojis from your comments and DMs, so you never have to see them.
