Love Island's Laura Whitmore breaks 'impartiality' with reaction to final result

Laura Whitmore was far from impartial as she delighted in Ekin-Su and Davide's winning Love Island on Monday night.

The couple the vote as viewers had their say for the final time this year, beating Gemma and Luca into second place, with Indiyah and Dami in third and Tasha and Andrew in fourth, which was perhaps the most surprising result of the night, given they were second favourites to triumph going into the live show.

This year's Love Island had a very different ending to years gone by, with Laura confirming the 'love or money' twist had been axed, despite being a real favourite with viewers. While fans of the hit dating show were left gutted by Laura's announcement right after the opening titles, Ekin Su and Davide's victory was largely well received online.

And Laura made no secret that she was happy with the outcome as she posed alongside the couple in the villa, even doing a TikTok video with them and her other half, Love Island narrator Iain Stirling. Uploading the shots to her Instagram, Laura wrote: "I love them so much!!! Our winners @ekinsuofficial and @davidesancli."

Davide himself was one of the many people to react to Laura's post, with him responding with two love heart emojis, while former contestant Shaughna Phillips wrote: " The deserved winners!"

Ekin-Su was clearly shocked by the outcome as she started crying shortly after Laura called her and Davide as winners, while viewers said they hoped their victory would lead to the couple landing their own show with ITV.

Ekin-SU is already being tipped to make over £58,000 from Instagram endorsements, with her following on the platform 500,000 more than MIlle Court had when she and now ex Liam Reardon won Love Island last year.
